Electrolysis
What is Electrolysis?
The Permanent Solution to Unwanted Hair
Electrolysis is a safe, effective, progressive and permanent method of removing unwanted hair. Electrolysis remains only one method that is approved by the FDA, Electrolysis has the longest known track record together with the most effective results for permanent hair removal. For over 140 years, electrolysis has been recognised as a safe, reliable method of treating all skin and hair types. Many new treatments for hair reduction or non-permanent hair removal have emerged over the years, electrolysis has remained the only treatment to achieve permanent and complete removal of unwanted hair

How does electrolysis work?
Electrolysis is a course of treatment that permanently removes hair growth when performed by
skilled and experienced Electrologist. The treatment is performed by insertion of a very fine, disposable, sterile probe (the same diameter as the hair) into the hair follicle, which is a natural
opening in the skin. A tiny amount of energy is released into the hair follicle to destroy the blood supply that allows the hair to grow. You my experience a heat sensation or mild sting which allows
the hair to detach from the follicle and slide out with the aid of tweezers

During a course of treatments there will be a constant, gradual decrease in the growth of the hair
until it has all been permanently removed. The number of treatments required will vary from
person to person and will be discussed at the initial consultation. Electrolysis takes commitment,
patience & time!! It’s not always a quick process but the results are definitely WORTH IT!
Electrolysis can be used on any part of the body. Treatment areas include all facial areas, legs,
bikini line, chest, back, abdomen, underarms, fingers, toes and eye brows

Hair Cycle
Hair grows in different stages: growing, resting and shedding. Because all of the
hair isn’t on the same stage at any given time, multiple sessions are needed to get the hair in the
growth phase for electrolysis to be most effective. You must be truly committed to electrolysis
for successful results.
How many treatments will I need
The number of treatments required will vary to each
person so are tailored to meet each client’s needs. The number and length of the session will depend on individual circumstances, including a person’s pain threshold. You will need to have regular appointments over a period of time (minimum of one year if not more) for most areas. You will begin to see a difference three months after total clearance of the treated area, giving you confidence to continue with your treatment plan, provided you adhere to the recommended treatment schedule and aftercare.
Recommendation when starting Electrolysis
If you have been waxing, shaving, or
tweezing, it is most likely that the hair follicle has been distorted. This means the hair is not
growing straight under the surface of the skin, so only part of the hair is initially treated.
Once you decide to start treatment, I recommend that you STOP removing the hair yourself and
allow electrolysis treatments remove all the unwanted hair. This allows the hair to start growing
its natural straight course allowing for accuracy to target the hair root. Electrolysis is not
effective if you continue to remove unwanted hair yourself in between treatments.
What are the side effects of electrolysis
There is usually some mild redness and swelling
straight after treatment, but this usually disappears after a few hours.
Some small red scabs may be seen the day after treatment; this is the normal healing process of
the skin. Provided you take the recommended aftercare instructions, these scabs will fall off naturally, leaving your skin smooth and hair free.
Does it hurt
Electrolysis has been described as a stinging and pricking sensation. The level of
discomfort can vary depending on the sensitivity of the area being treated and your own
tolerance to pain
Consultation
Will include, health assessment, previous use of temporary methods of hairremoval, the process of Electrolysis and any questions/concerns. Finally aftercare information to
maintain your skin during treatments.
Duration of the treatment
Electrolysis should be carried regularly during a certain period of time, which shall be determined
by individually for each person. The main factors that influence the treatment duration are the
hair structure and density, as well as area of electrolysis application.
What are the advantages of Electrolysis compared to other methods of hair removal
Electrolysis removes hairs permanently from the undesired parts of the body, which other
temporary treatments don’t. In addition to this it can treat almost all kinds of skin and hair from the face and body.
The methods like threading, plucking hairs with tweezers and waxing are temporary ways of
getting rid of hairs from your body. These may sometimes have serious side-effects like
discoloration of the skin and hardening of hair. Using razors for shaving might lead to skin
irritation and faster hair regrowth.
Following these methods might cost you a much greater price than undergoing an electrolysis
session for a permanent solution.
